I am new to the board...I have been watching my fiancee obsesses over this board which made me somewhat curious. Well once I started reading I couldn't stop. I was reading a post about motivation at the gym when working out by yourself. I personally work out on my own...my fiancee works out at the same time with another guy. He doesn't like working out with me because I have an attitude problem which I do. I tend to leave the gym pissed off! I have made wonderful progress but when I am at the gym I tend to think negative about myself and compare myself to other women. I currently weigh 131 and I am 5'1, but I have a good build. I would definitely like to trim down and feel good when I leave the gym. So ladies help me out with an attitude adjustment!

Ok ladies help her out. I can not tell you how many times the horns come out and she starts kicking my ass at the gym. She has even given me the bird when the cap blows right off her head. But I do love her so I just deal with it. She must learn to make her weaknesses her strengths. Best of luck honey. tentitan xoxo

Welcome to bolex Ms. Tentitan!! It's great to have another girly on here. It is very hard to get rid of the mentality of comparing yourself to other women. But it can be done. It is very healthy for you to want to better yourself but when you make it an obession that's where the problem comes in. The attitude adjustment is all about you. There isn't a magic pill you could take (believe me if there was I would need it somedays) and we really can't tell you anything you don't already know. You just need to bite your tongue or walk away to take a deep breath. It's all about self control. If you put your mind and energy into it (like you did with your body) then you will be able to overcome your insecurities.

Have you tired to go to the gym at a different time then tentitan? I know when my husband and I get a chance to workout at the same time if we are both in a bad mood or pissed at each other we always have a horrible workout. Good luck with everything!

Patience

you know I train alone, and Iwalk into the gym tuning everyone and everything else about my day out.......and I stay focused on what my goal is for that workout.....

I have recently tried being a little more sociable in the gym when I noticed no one speaks to me LOL I must've looked like a mad woman LOL

Stay focused on you, and don't worry about all the other women in the gym.....my gawd you never know what their lives are at home, and there you are w/ a wonderful man who's considerate and supportive of you just think they are not so lucky

*wink*

Hey Tenitan...those ladies gave great advice..! I always look at the gym as the only part in my day where I control what I do, when I do it, and most importantly how. Think about all the hours we spend on the clock for someone else or doing something for someone else or thinking about someone else! Forget all that. You. It's your time to be a selfish bitch. If you get pissed, then , hey..use that aggression towards making your workout amazing and stress relieving. But dont focus so much on the other insecure folks in the gym. We are all there for pretty much the same reason (more or less) and if we let others get in the way of our goals, then why waste your time?....Bottom line, do what you do for you. Have fun and happy training..!!

Hmmm, I have to work at getting into the mode. I have awesome, kickass workouts when I focus on bringing out my anger/frustration etc. Seems that my workouts are only so-so
when I'm in a good mood or being anything near social.
So ~ I strive for bitchiness cause it serves my purpose. I don't know that I would want to comprimise my workout to please anyone else, after all, my workout is for ME!!! I hate anyone hovering near me, I hate anyone talking to me or even looking at me, it distracts from my focus.
But, I can switch it off and socialize right afterwards.
If it works for you hon, go for it!
You're there for yourself and only you know what brings out the best and motivates you. Working out is tough, it's grueling and it isn't pretty. If you need to be alone to grunt, sweat, swear and suffer, then you just go for it. Whatever it takes to progress is just fine.

Hi there and welcome!

I have days when I feel so good leaving the gym and others when I feel so low. Finding a happy medium takes a while. Listen to the other girls on the board and try to not worry about the other girls from your gym. Put your energy into your training and vent your frustrations on here!!!

Good luck

MC
