Ok I have the flu this week Anyone have any remedies that they know of to get rid of it and how many still try and train with it?

remedy im afraid im not that good at it.but keep your fluids up , eat lemon/honey(real honey) and garlick if you can handle yourself as the natural ways work best for me.

Dont train sis , just get better first - seriously , dont even think about training till you feel 100% only do yourself harm.

*raises hand*

i gotta admit though i trained when i had the flu, and i found it better then moping at home feeling shit about everything, i got into the gym and miraculously my sore throat disappeared and i felt better the next day! theres like 1000000 different flu bugs though, so im guessing maybe mine just didn't like weights lol.

Crank up the Vit C. Start drinking lots of warm / hot water. (will make you use the bathroom alot but it flushes you out). Stay warm & Rest. It may also be a sign that you are doing too much excercise wise & is a little warning to back off a tad.

I usually go and have a sauna as well and rub Vicks over chest and throat!!!

Good Luck!!

I agree. Don't train. You will feel like shit and then get pissed off because your efforts are only 'half assed'.

God, that Vicks on the chest thing has be all bothered.

Sauna or hot bath and I eat Echinacea and vitamin c tabs like they are lollies.
Rest, the way I see it no point training unless you are going to gain from it, and while you are fighting a virus, not much chance of gains.
Ephedrine used to be great to alleviate the symptoms
Get well soon

For the Flu I find Rest and plenty of fluid to be the only thing that can help ease an otherwise fucked up situation.

I've actually had some of my best training sessions while having a flu, but a mild one only.

So yeah, musclechick, if you don't feel to bad then go to the gym and tear the place to pieces, you'll either:

1) Feel better and even recover somewhat from the flu

OR

2) Curl over in the fetal position and almost drop dead

It's an interesting experience that can leave you feelikng relaxed for days on end.
